Merritt Smith is a Data Scientist for the Crime Lab. In this role, he develops code to process, analyze, and understand crime and policing.

Prior to coming to the Labs, Merritt conducted research in the fields of wealth inequality, bribery, international development, and violence using a broad range of quantitative and computational tools. He holds an MS in Computational Analysis and Public Policy from the University of Chicago and a BA in Data Science and Public Policy from Tufts University.
