Carolyn Silverman

Carolyn Silverman is a Data Science Manager for the Crime Lab and Education Lab. In her role, she supports the development and management of data operations to ensure the technical correctness and standardization of data analysis across projects. She also consults with staff on statistical techniques and data science best practices. Carolyn is broadly interested in leveraging data science insights to drive more effective policies and equitable outcomes in the criminal justice and education spaces. Her specific research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning, econometrics, and public policy.

Prior to joining the Labs, Carolyn worked at Barnard College’s Empirical Reasoning Center where she helped students and faculty engage critically with data across disciplines. Carolyn holds an MS in Data Science from Columbia University and a BA in Math-Statistics and Dance from Barnard College.
