My capstone project focused on implementing a police discipline matrix at the North Charleston Police Department to create a more consistent and objective approach to employee discipline. The matrix established clear guidelines that aligned specific types of misconduct with recommended disciplinary actions, reducing subjectivity in decision-making. By standardizing outcomes, it improved fairness across the organization and helped ensure that similar violations were treated consistently regardless of rank or assignment. It also increased transparency by making the disciplinary process more understandable and predictable for both supervisors and officers.
