My capstone examined the impact of trauma on youth in Baltimore City, particularly the effects of exposure to abuse, violence, and recurring cycles of victimization. It explored how unresolved trauma often contributes to youth entering the criminal justice system, where restorative interventions may not adequately address the underlying causes of their behavior. The project emphasized the importance of trauma-informed, restorative approaches to interrupt the cycle of violence and improve long-term outcomes for youth and the communities they serve.
