3 J’s Project: Therapy Dogs in CVI
This project proposes a pilot initiative to integrate therapy dogs into Chicago’s community violence intervention programs, enhancing trauma-informed care for both frontline workers and residents. By partnering with established therapy dog organizations, selected CVI sites will incorporate trained handlers and therapy animals into their outreach strategies. The effort includes staff training, community education, and ongoing data collection to assess impact and refine best practices. This innovative approach aims to promote healing, strengthen trust, and support long-term violence reduction in Chicago’s most affected communities.
