Gun Violence Response Protocol System
Designed to address cycles of retaliation and trauma in underserved communities, the Gun Violence Response Protocol System uses a rapid-response, community-based model to intervene during the critical period immediately following a violent incident. Credible messengers trained in de-escalation and trauma-informed care respond to shootings, support survivors and families, mediate conflicts, and connect residents to behavioral health, housing, and case management services. By treating violence as a public health issue, the initiative aims to reduce re-injury, prevent retaliatory violence, and strengthen long-term community resilience.
