Crime Lab Director Jens Ludwig Elected to the National Academy of Science's Institute of Medicine

Crime Lab Director Jens Ludwig was named as a member today to the National Academy of Science's Institute of Medicine.

Professor Ludwig is the second University of Chicago faculty member outside of the medical field to be appointed to this prestigious position.

In their announcement, The Institute of Medicine cited Professor Ludwig’s “major contributions to the advancement of… public health,” along with his service as a role model to his academic peers and members of the communities his work has helped serve. Professor Ludwig has been the McCormick Foundation Professor of Social Service Administration, Law, and Public Policy at the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration and The Harris School since 2008.
